Things To Do 

Whiskeytown National Recreation Park has so much to offer from swimming, to hiking, to water falls, paddle boarding, water skiing and more!  

 Whiskeytown Lake is known for its crystal-clear water and it is perhaps the most recognized feature of the park. The Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is about 42,000 acres and consists of multiple beaches and waterfalls.  Here are some to name a few:

WaterWorks
Park

WaterWorks Park is a waterpark amusement park that came to life in 1985 in Redding, CA.  
WaterWorks Park has many fun and exciting rides like the Bucking Bronco, the Whipper Snapper, The Avalanche, The Cork Screw, The Raging River and many drop slides. 

For those who just want to relax, while the kids play, there is even a Lazy Lagoon and on-site lifeguards.  So beat the heat and hangout at the most visited place during the summer heat where there is literally fun for everyone!

The Park is downtown Redding's food truck destination.  The Park has it's own food truck that specializes in the largest corndogs ever but if you're wanting something else there's always more!  Come drink, eat and play one of the many large sized games The Park features and have a blast.

Shasta Dam

Shasta Dam is a sight to see.  It is a concrete arch-gravity dam that stretches across the Sacramento River.  During World War II, Shasta Dam played a vital role in providing electricity to California factories and provides power regeneration and water storage today.  
Take a guided tour of Shasta Dam or visit the Shasta Dam Visitors Center and learn about this unique structure and the history of Redding, CA.

Redding, CA is the perfect place to have outdoor adventures.  Bring your camera and take a stroll on one of the many walking trails, while taking pictures of the local wildlife, or hike to the top of Mule Ridge Trail, or ride your bike along the beautiful Sacramento River Trail.  Depending on how you feel and no matter your experience there are many options to choose from.

Eskimo Hill is one of the most popular sledding hills in the north state and it's just an hour drive east of Redding off Highway 44.  Stop by Eskimo Hill on your way to Lassen and enjoy the snow.  At Eskimo Hill you can enjoy the laughter and views while your littles have a blast going up and down the mountain with their tob0ggans, sleds and inner tubes.  If you get there early enough you can even grab one of the fire pits and enjoy the snow while staying warm.  Be sure to bring that firewood!

Lassen National Park

Spend a day at Lassen National Park where wildlife comes to life.  Whether you visit Lassen National Park in the summer of the winter there is plenty to do and see.  Explore the towering pines in the Lassen National Forest or grab your gear and hike, kayak, or fish.  Coming to visit during the springtime, grab a book and relax among the beautiful wildflowers.  The views are out of this world!  Truly a must see.

Mt. Shasta Ski Park is located about an hour north of Redding in McCloud, CA.  It is known for being the best place in northern California to enjoy all types of winter weather activities.  During the winter months, Mt. Shasta Ski Park features skiing, snowboarding, tubing, chair lift rides, lessons, events and more.  Don't have gear, no problem the park has many items for rent to enjoy your day to it's fullest.
During the summer Mt. Shasta Ski Park offers scenic chairlift rides, mountain biking and disc golf so no matter what time of year you come to visit there is always something going on.

Everyone loves ice skating right!  Well here in Redding, CA we do and there are a couple options to choose from during the winter months.  Head on up to Siskiyou Ice Rink in Mt. Shasta and enjoy skating the only regulation sized rink in California.  Don't want to drive too far, no problem, Anderson, CA is just a short drive away and offers the cutest little rink, that was completed in 2021, and is sure to impress the littles.

Redding's Garden of Lights

The Redding Garden of Lights are truly a magical experience.  During the winter months The Turtle Bay Exploration Park decorates a section of the Park with over one million lights.  The Garden of Lights encompasses 10-acres of illumination.  Walk down the paths with your family and enjoy the holiday cheer all around you.  Before you adventure through this lighted experience be sure to stop at one of the food trucks that offer s'more kits, pretzels, hot chocolate and more for the most exciting experience ever!
